Resolution

December 31st.  I haven't posted an entry in 9 fringing months!  I am lame.

I've installed the new version of Live Writer along with the PortableApps mod so I can take it with me everywhere I go so I WILL be posting more often.

I'm not one to do the whole "new years resolutions" thing but I'm obviously in need of some major refinements so I thought this would be a good chance to set some goals for the coming months.

  • Loose weight - I'm somewhere near 225, I should be somewhere closer to 175.  Now that I'm done having kids (5 IS enough) it's time to drop the weight and get back into a shape other than round.
  • Create a podcast - Now that some of my side work has come to a close I've got some extra time to do some of the things I've found interesting.  I'm not sure exactly what the theme will be but there are a few others where I work that have expressed interest in putting out a podcast as well.
  • Contribute to OSS - Maybe It'll just be a few updates or a new module to one of the many OSS projects I use on a daily basis, maybe it will be a whole new app.  I'm not sure.  What I am sure of is I've gotten a great deal out of the open source community and I really want to give something back.
  • Generate Web Revenue - For years I've made lots of people lots of money on the web.  Time for homey to break himself off a piece of that action!  My goal is to pull at least 25% of my base income from the web.
  • Author a new application - Maybe this will be part of the OSS contribution, maybe part of the web revenue, maybe both, maybe neither.  Not sure.  I have more than a few ideas for software which currently doesn't exist.  Some of it is "game changing" some of it is just "neat"  In either case, I want to do something that is all me, for better or for worse.

There are many many other things I would like to accomplish in the upcoming months but this is a short list which I feel I can commit to without too much risk but also takes enough effort to make it non-trivial.
