CAB / SCSF

by Administrator 3. February 2008 01:20

I've been working with the Composite UI Application Block (CAB) and the Smart Client Software Factory (SCSF) for a few months now.  While I will not profess to be an expert I can say with some degree of confidence that I have come a long way toward understanding these technologies.  CAB/SCSF is complex and and more than a little bit tricky to understand.  There is a noticeable absence of useful documentation and I get the distinct impression that the only people who have truly mastered it have had the luxury of a personal mentor to show them the ropes.

That being said I think I'm now at a point where I may be able to help some others who, like me, have been cast naked into the CAB world.  I'm going to attempt to put together a short series of blogs entries with links to the resources which helped me the most, insights to "ah-ha" moments that I encountered and all around basic guidance.

As usual my time is limited so if you're just starting out with CAB/SCSF and need to get going right away don't hold your breath waiting for me to get posts out of the door.  They'll come when the come.  In the mean time let me recommend a set of blog entries done by Rich Newman.  I found his series (Intro to CAB/SCSF) more helpful than any other resource available on the web.  Thank you Rich, you've helped me more than you'll ever know ;-}
